Theme and Purpose

In the last decade, there has been an explosion of available distance learning programs.
As the programs have evolved, students have also evolved.  Distance education is a convenient for students that want to build their education around their lives versus arranging their lives around their education.  Since distance education is new and continuing to evolve students and educators must constantly evaluate what works and what doesn't.

The purpose of this blog is to examine several aspects of distance education. It will look at the current  status of the A.T. S. U. Doctorate of Health Science program, what factors contribute to its success and what technological advances might be incorporated to help students improve their experiences.

The theme of this blog how my experiences progressed to from being a potential student to a current student. My hope is that readers can relate to some of my experiences (successes and failures)  and offer their own stories and input.

The post dubbed "My Story" is simply background information about me and my journey with online classes. Feel free to comment on it, but it is not meant to be one of the discussion topics. The next post, "the path to this degree program" offers insight on the factors I considered when selecting an online degree program including accreditation and faculty qualifications. In "Growing with technology", I discuss how my computer skills have evolved and some of the frustrations I have encountered along the way. In my last topic, I examine the next step in distance education, which is the emergence and development of mobile applications to support learning platforms.

I created the title of this blog as a reminder that distance education is continuing to evolve and, as it does, students and educations must continue to push their expectations of the learning content and available technologies.
